Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included in the price of your holiday however we strongly recommend all travellers obtain appropriate insurance.
Travel insurance is mandatory for all cruises and international travel. Our office team can provide you with a quote and policy to best suit your travel needs.
Active Night
If required, Leisure Options is happy to provide checking or intervention during the night.
We will supply a dedicated active night tour leader who will be available when you need. This must be organised prior to departure and will be invoiced separately.
Please let us know when making your booking if you require this service.
Pre and post-tour packages
If you need an additional night of accommodation, before or after your holiday, we can arrange this for you from a cost of $590 per night. This price includes dinner, bed, and breakfast along with staff support from 4:30pm through to your departure.
Airfares
Airfares are not included in the advertised price of any group holiday, except where indicated.
We encourage you to book your holiday early so we can negotiate the best price possible for airfares on your behalf. If you are travelling from interstate, Leisure Options will arrange and coordinate your flights so you can join the group.
As part of our environmental commitment, we pay carbon offset on all airfares to assist with greenhouse gas emission reduction.
Departures
All advertised holidays depart from Melbourne. However, it doesn’t matter where you live in Australia, we can organise travel arrangements for you to join us along the way or meet us at the destination.
If necessary, we can arrange for a tour leader to pick you up and travel with you. There is an additional charge for this service.
Accommodation
Our small groups have the flexibility to stay in a wider range of accommodation. We choose unique and quality stays in large houses, offering a more family-style getaway. We select accommodation with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms along with communal living and entertaining spaces.
Most tours will utilise twin-share, but a single supplement option is available on request for an additional charge.
Tour Leaders
Throughout your holiday, your Leisure Options tour leader will play a really important role in making sure you have a great time, see all of the sights, and are safe and well looked after.
All tour leaders have police checks, national worker checks, current first aid certificates, and access to 24-hour nursing advice and support. Their focus is on delivering incredible service and an authentic experience to make each holiday a memorable experience.
By building strong relationships with each traveller our tour leaders are able to understand individual needs and provide support in a safe and nurturing environment. Their unique knowledge of the destinations we visit ensures that you can relax and immerse yourself in a physical, emotional, and cultural journey. Tour Leaders are not able to share rooms with travellers but will be available whenever you need them.
High Staff to Traveller Ratios
We strive to offer unparalleled holiday support, guidance and care. To enable this, our holidays are always staffed at high support ratios. Offering ratios, no greater than 1:4 ensures that you are able to actively participate in holidays that meet your aspirations and goals. Leisure Options staffing ratios are the highest in the industry and provide peace of mind that you will receive the care and support you require.
NDIS
The NDIS will provide funding for the staff supports you require to ensure you enjoy a safe and fun-filled travel experience.
The amount covered by the NDIS will be dependent upon your support requirements and the categories you have in your plan. Just ask our friendly office team if you have any questions.
How do I get NDIS funds included in my plan to support me on holidays?
The NDIS will fund support and services it deems reasonable and necessary. If you need support to live at home, engage in the community, attend work or a day program, then it’s not unreasonable to expect that you would need that same support to access a holiday.
Talk to your service coordinator, family members, plan manager and even an advocate to help support you in developing your plan that includes travel which supports the goals and skills you wish to further develop.
What’s the difference between Respite and a Holiday?
Short Term Accommodation (STA), including Respite, provides funding for both support and accommodation when you need a short stay away from your usual home. This type of funding can help you and your informal carers – such as family members, friends or close relatives who provide care and support on an unpaid basis. For more details, refer to our Respite Page
A holiday, on the other hand, is distinct from respite, though it may offer a break for your informal support. A holiday is about you choosing a destination to enjoy recreational activities, which the NDIS considers a leisure activity more aligned with a holiday. In this case, Leisure Options would claim the support hours for the carer who assists you during your trip. This differs fundamentally from the purpose of Respite.
